I'm writing this post as i'm waiting for my phone to be uodated with the new software update for the iphone. As usual, updates take a pretty long time.
So what have i been doing? catching up with some friends, went back to TP for the band's ensemble night, work (seldom as there are limited slots). SMU band practice sas we are going to sydney next month (still tentative depending on the H1N1 virus situation). Well, at least i don't have to pay for it. Lucky me.
Itunes was prompting me that the activation server that was required for the update was temporarily down. That's quite a turn-off for a long awaited update. Well, perseverence (and Google) pays off and forums recommended some measures which i tried several times and what do you know? success! haha. Google is God-sent.

Here to blog while waiting for a phone call...
I've been pretty busy working almost everyday at esplanade be it at the shop or ushering. Well, making full use of my time before i get enlisted. Thought of getting another full time job but i guess it'll be pretty hard since i would be going to Sydney with SMU band in july for a week and would be required to attend night practices twice a week. So esplanade's flexibility would have to suffice.
So i didn't do tooo well for the SATs. Hmm. Haha. at least i tried right?

Its been preeeety long since i last blogged (hasn't it be always?)
Well, been working quite a bit lately at both the shop and ushering with the showing of Cats. The songs are rather addictive especially when i have to hear it over and over again as we play it at the shop. I find the lyrics to the songs (which are incidentally poems by T.S. Elliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats) very well written and as Webber puts it; almost has its own tune.
I'm really looking forward to my trip to Phuket which is tomorrow. Would be flying back on wednesday. I think it'll be a really good cultural experience and besides, i'm going with people that i really want to meet.
Have been mugging for SATs. I tell you, the English can kill. The vocabulary list in my book is never-ending.
I hope that one of my dear friends finds the courage to deal with issues that he meets and learn not to regret after he has done so. :)

So i went with hilyah and cynthia yesterday to catch slumpdog millionaire at great world city.
Its a really great movie depicting the extreme poverty in India and to some sense how you can commit a crime there and get away with it. It makes me think about how i would be if i were in their shoes. So the story goes to tell about him going on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and knowing all the answers (most at least) to the questions that would earn him 20 million ruppees. He wasn't there for the money, but because he hoped that this childhood friend of his would see him. It must really have been traumatic to play the game as many of the questions he knew the answers to were horrible memories to begin with such as religious riots and witnessing his brother kill a guy with a revolver. The story continues to him playing his last question. While everyone in the cinema was happy that he won the gameshow, i realised that i became upset that his brother died while he did so. Great movie to catch.

So i haven't posted at all since i came back to Singapore. Hmm..
Well, i'm actually quite done with school as i've already submitted my final research paper. So i'm actually really free now other than the fact that i'm still working at esplanade.

Its the new year of 2009 and i'm still in Langkawi!
I really need my dosage of Singapore soon. Counting down the number of days to go back home. Anyway, i'll be back on the 23rd of Jan if you're wondering.
So housekeeping has been rather interesting cause i don't get the chance to do these kinds of stuff back in Singapore. And TP should really have a module to teach about Housekeeping.. As the Asst. Director of Rooms here told me; housekeeping is the heart of hotels and resorts. Altough tiring, its been rather fun. Resorts really make you walk a lot from room to room anyway.
Looks like i'm going to Penang one more time before i depart for Singapore. Do some shopping and maybe get some stuff for the folks back home.
